About Rhythms Osteopathy & Pilates
Welcome to Rhythms Osteopathy and Pilates. Based on the Sunshine Coast and founded by Dr. Ramona Packham (Osteopath), she is committed to holistic healthcare. Ramona offers tailored Osteopathic consultations and Clinical Pilates to support your health and wellness journey. She believes in an integrated approach, where each element of care contributes to restoring harmony in your body.
Ramona brings a wealth of experience and a passion for helping people of all ages achieve optimal health. She earned her qualifications in Osteopathy from Victoria University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (Osteopathy) and a Master of Health Science (Osteopathy).
After gaining valuable experience working in Melbourne, Ramona relocated to the Sunshine Coast where she had the privilege of working with a gifted team of Osteopaths in rural Queensland under the mentorship of Michael Herkess. This experience further solidified her commitment to the principles of Osteopathic philosophy, and she firmly believes in the remarkable outcomes that can be achieved through its application.
She has partaken in further study in Clinical Pilates through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), and she holds certifications in areas such as Myofascial Dry Needling from the Manual Medicine of Australasia and Craniosacral Osteopathy from the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation of Australia and New Zealand.
Ramona has particular interests in:
- Women’s health, including pregnancy and post-partum care, pelvic pain and pelvic-floor conditions
- Dancers
- Complex medical needs
- Clinical rehabilitation and injury prevention
- Breathing optimisation
Outside of professional practice, Ramona enjoys hiking, swimming in the ocean, jumping into waterfalls, spending time in prayer and connecting with friends and family.
Osteopathic Consultations
Our osteopathic consultations offer a thorough, hands-on approach to assessing and managing your pain or dysfunction. Each session involves personalised care, focusing on various issues from headaches and neck pain to hip and foot problems. We work to find the root cause of discomfort and restore balance in the body.
Initial Osteopathic Consultation (45 mins): A detailed assessment and first session to create a customised care plan tailored to you and your body.
Standard Osteopathic Consultation (30 mins): Follow-up sessions to continue care and monitor progress.
Infant Osteopathic Care
Infants require gentle, specific care to support their early development and health. Our infant osteopathy sessions are tailored to address common issues such as feeding difficulties, colic, and early mobility concerns. Ramona’s experience in paediatric osteopathy allows her to provide your child with safe and nurturing care.
Initial Infant Consultation (45 mins): A thorough assessment and initial session for infants.
Standard Infant Consultation (30 mins): Follow-up sessions for ongoing care and development support.
Pregnancy and Post-Partum Care
Rhythms Osteopathy and Pilates is passionate about supporting women’s health throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Our services cater to each stage of pregnancy, helping expecting mothers manage common discomforts during pregnancy and aiding recovery after childbirth. Ramona offers guidance on safe exercises and strategies to support your changing body during and after pregnancy.
Clinical Pilates Rehabilitation
Clinical Pilates is a form of Pilates designed to support recovery and rehabilitation. In these one-on-one sessions, Ramona combines her clinical training with Pilates principles to improve your strength, flexibility, and injury resilience. Clinical Pilates is ideal for anyone recovering from injury, or surgery, or seeking to improve their movement efficiency.
Initial Rehabilitation Session (60 mins): An in-depth assessment of mobility and strength, followed by personalised Pilates exercises tailored to your health goals.
Standard Rehabilitation Session (45 mins): Ongoing Pilates sessions to continue building strength, stability, and control.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a holistic healthcare approach in which Osteopaths, qualified allied health professionals in Australia, diagnose areas of dysfunction or suboptimal performance and use manual therapy techniques to restore homeostasis, setting a catalyst in motion for the body’s inherent ability to heal itself.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is an exercise and movement education system established by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It is a form of mind-body practice founded on concentration, breathing, centering, control, precision, flowing movement, integrated isolation and routine.
Why We love Pilates
As a clinician, Ramona frequently integrates clinical Pilates exercises into her practice to aid clients in recovering from pain and injury, as well as to prevent these issues from recurring.
Physically, Pilates improves joint stability and the ability to manage mobility effectively. This reduction in injury risk is particularly beneficial for sports like dance, and it strengthens end-range movements, providing better control over challenging actions such as standing splits and spins.
Ramona was drawn to Pilates due to the physical and mental benefits she has experienced with it. Mentally, Pilates heightens body awareness and helps refocus the mind on the present, offering a soothing effect.
Ramona's Dance Journey
Outside of her Osteopathy and Pilates clinic, Ramona has a lifelong passion for dance, especially Latin styles like Zouk and Bachata. Her love for movement started early, with classical ballet training at the Brian Nolan Academy of Dance. Over the years, she found her way to Latin dance, studying under inspiring instructors including Elysia Baker and Carlos Veron, Magno and Kayleigh, and Jorge Maryano.
Ramona recently started a Bachata ladies’ styling team on the Sunshine Coast, called ‘Rhythms by Ramona’. A Bachata ladies’ styling team is a group of women who come together to learn, practice, and perform Bachata dance routines with a focus on styling techniques unique to the dance form.
Dance isn’t just a hobby for Ramona, it’s a way to express herself and connect with others. It’s given her resilience and a deep understanding of the body, which she brings into her practice, especially when working with dancers and those seeking to improve their physical strength and flexibility. For Ramona, dance and Osteopathy go hand in hand, both rooted in the joy of movement and the drive for balance and well-being.
